Mysuru gears up to host World Tourism Day celebrations on Sep 27:

Mysuru: The city is all set to host the
celebrations of World Tourism Day on
September 27 Sunday. This year, the
daylong celebrations will showcase a
variety of shows for tourists and in turn
will also promote the city's potential for
boosting tourism. The theme adopted
this year is 'One Billion Tourists, One
Billion Opportunities.'
The event will be inaugurated by
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja
Wadiyar, the successor to the erstwhile
Wadiyar dynasty. The inauguration will
take place at Balarama Gate of the
Mysuru palace at 6.30 pm. Mayor R
Lingappa, MLA Vasu, CA Jayakumar,
president, Mysuru Travel Agents'
Association (MTAA) and BS Prashanth,
Chairman, World Tourism Day
Committee will grace the ceremony.
The MTAA will conduct the celebrations
in collaboration of with many
stakeholders of the tourism industry.
Member of MTAA on Sunday will
welcome railway passengers with
flowers and sweets accompanied by the
music of the Nadaswaram.
A booth will be installed at the city
railway station that will provide details
about tourist destinations in the city and
the surrounding areas.
A member of the MTAA said that this
was the 35th year of the Tourism Day
celebrations and they wanted to make it
memorable by conducting events for
tourists and locals.
He added that those who had rendered
services in the Tourism Industry would
be facilitated in recognition of their
services towards the growth of the
Mysuru tourism sector.
